In many ways, it’s like receiving a Golden Ticket—every year, Adobe selects two people for its year-long Creative Residency program that provides mentorship, money and massive career opportunities. The initiative launched in 2015 with Kelli Anderson and Becky Murphy, and the current residents are Christina Poku and Maddy Beard.
Recognizing that a lot more than two creatives need support right now, Adobe has created a $1 million Creative Residency Community Fund, and they’re currently on the hunt for creators who excel in the areas of video, photography, graphic design, illustration, 3D work, motion design and UI/UX design.
“This fund will enable us to support many more creators by funding their projects and hiring them for Adobe-commissioned projects,” the company writes. “The motto of the Creative Residency program is ‘Create. Share. Activate. Empower.’ As always, the creators we select will be passionate about creating personally fulfilling work, sharing their journeys and activating fellow creatives to craft the careers they want by empowering them with knowledge.”
Grants are available for both Adobe commissions (think tutorials, graphics and videos) and personal projects. Both range from $500–$5,000, and the first round of applications is due June 1. The program is currently set to run for one year, and all recipients also receive a Creative Cloud subscription.
The only requirements are that applicants must be proficient in either English or Japanese, and at least 18 years old.
